Neural Mobilization
(Part 3)

Neural, Visceral and Energetic Integration
Cranial Nerves, Sutures, Plexi and the “Diaphragms”

We will  focus on reviewing the relationships of core structures as they relate to the neck, cranium, diaphragm and pelvic floor. A layer by layer approach will serve to organize our exploration of cranial bones, membranes and nerves.

We will begin with approaches for the appendicular bones focusing on tibia/fibula and radius/ulna relationships through interosseous membranes as well as intraosseous contact for each bone. This will set the energetic foundation for relating intraosseous adaptability to pelvic segments, sacrum, clavicle and sternum.

We will then focus on reviewing the relationships of core structures as they relate to the neck, cranium, thoracic inlet, diaphragm and pelvic floor. A layer by layer approach will serve to organize our exploration of cranial bones, membranes, vascular fascias, viscera and nerves. The diaphragms in the body function to dampen and mitigate energy flow in the body and have system-wide effects. These specialized membranes will be addressed to release  holding  patterns in the interosseous membranes of legs and arms, pelvic floor, respiratory diaphragm and thoracic outlet.

We will review contact of abdominal organs and thorax viscera covered in part one and two. As we review we will refine visceral to vascular connections: heart to liver and stomach, aorta feed to erectors, iliac artery to legs, brachial neurovascular to neck, hilum of lung to lung, kidney to aorta and other kidney. Deepening of visceral structural interface to lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine will include dome of lung, mediastinum, and pericardium relationship to thorax and neck. Which will connect us to relating the upper pole: neck to head.

The last two days will focus on relating Cranial bones to free vascular and neural restrictions to restore ease from cranial base to neck and cranial vault. This material will be relevant for 7th session of the Structural Integration series as well as detailed cranial approaches for head and neck issues. The pass through the abdominal and thoracic prevertebral space in the first two days with visceral, vascular and neural approaches will feed the exploration of the neural and visceral cranium.

PREREQUISITE: While the class is Part 3 of a series and we will build on previous material, Jon will give priority to those who have taken Part one or two and open the class to anyone who has similar touch skills-cranial, neural, visceral and the like as Jon knows that these skills come from many sources. So, sign up and tell your friends. Let Jon know now to secure a spot.

About the instructor:

Jonathan Martine was certified as a Rolfer® in 1992 and completed his advanced Rolfing certification in 1997. In addition, he has studied therapies that treat the fascial systems of the viscera (organs), neural (nerve) system and the cranium. He is a Registered Movement Therapist, Pilates Instructor and former Rolf Institute® Faculty member( 1993-2023]. Jonathan draws from the work of French Osteopaths, Alain Corbier, Jean-Pierre Barral, Chiropractic Neurologist Dr. Michael Allen, Australian PT’s, David Butler, Michael Shacklock, Rehabilitation specialist Mark Comerford, Dermo-Neural Modulation founder - Diane Jacobs, P.T. and Chiropractor/Rolfer Don Hazen in a synthesis of neural/visceral-fascia related work. Jonathan is dedicated to presenting and developing effective strategies to restore function, improve performance and relieve suffering. His ongoing inquiry drives him toward useful and complementary approaches for all manual therapists.
