Neural Mobilization (Part 1)
Neurovascular Mobilization of Shoulder and Pelvic Girdles
This class explores the relationship of neural/vascular fascial restriction to structural imbalances and myofascial patterns. When the body has nerve or vascular fascia that is restricted and fails to glide, the entire system becomes pre-occupied. Reducing this “pre-occupation” is necessary for reducing pain and restoring optimal function. We will explore a neurovascular (fascial) approach to the 10-series linking local mobility to posture, coordination and function.
We will explore through lecture, palpation and hands-on exchange:
• Assessments for myofascial, neural fascial, joint, and movement restriction.
• How impaired neurovascular mobility restrict movement of fascia, joints and core stability.
• Develop integrative strategies to assess and address peripheral restrictions from cutaneous layers through tunnels to muscular, and articular pathways for lasting change, from local restriction to global function.
Integrative strategies for your structural integration 10-series and other session work. Learn how to immediately complement your practice.
About the instructor:
Jonathan Martine was certified as a Rolfer® in 1992 and completed his advanced Rolfing certification in 1997. In addition, he has studied therapies that treat the fascial systems of the viscera (organs), neural (nerve) system and the cranium. He is a Registered Movement Therapist, Pilates Instructor and former Rolf Institute® Faculty member( 1993-2023]. Jonathan draws from the work of French Osteopaths, Alain Corbier, Jean-Pierre Barral, Chiropractic Neurologist Dr. Michael Allen, Australian PT’s, David Butler, Michael Shacklock, Rehabilitation specialist Mark Comerford, Dermo-Neural Modulation founder - Diane Jacobs, P.T. and Chiropractor/Rolfer Don Hazen in a synthesis of neural/visceral-fascia related work. Jonathan is dedicated to presenting and developing effective strategies to restore function, improve performance and relieve suffering. His ongoing inquiry drives him toward useful and complementary approaches for all manual therapists.

“Rolfing is an opportunity for discovery and it is so meaningful to me in what I am trying to achieve with my jumping… The insights I gain from the Rolfing work help me picture where I might be able to extract a little more power and length in the act of high jumping.”
-Amy Acuff, 5-time Olympic high jumper
